Mock Scrape Grade

Well my mock scrape wasn't the wild success I had hope for but it did attract a few small bucks. So I'm going to give it a C rating. Actually it seemed to attract more does than bucks. I took the dripper down and moved the camera Sunday so it's officially shutdown. I think next year I'm going to try putting it on one of the logging roads or on the edge of a field instead of in the woods.

Sorry it didn't work out the way you wanted, but I have enjoyed the pics!

That middle pic of the buck is just beautiful! I'd rate your mock scrape an A- just because I like your photos! No matter if they are deer, foxes or whatever! :)

Every year, something new to be learned. I too have enjoyed seeing your photos. So much wildlife in your area. :)

Hello Joe! My dad is a hunter, so your pictures are very familiar to me! I spent years helping butcher and put up meat for the winter. My husband is going to enjoy the fox pictures! :)

mine didn't work as well as I wanted either. I'll try again next year.

Those trail cameras can really get you going. I went to a meeting at the start of rut and everyone was comparing stories until I told mine of 28 that day on camera. We have a big population here in Iowa, corn fed also.A extra tag can be had for the state and some city parks also.I have been watching one buck for three years and he is just awesome to watch him walk, a rack over 3 1/2 foot across.

I guess there were too many acorns to distract them this year? I saw an ad on Craigslist the other day and thought of you... they were looking for blog writers who were familiar with the Massanutten area... which it sounds like you are very. It was in the Harrisonburg Craislist listing if you're interested. I hope we will still get photos from you. I have really enjoyed them.

Thanks all.

Allison - Thanks for dropping in. You sound like you've had a lot of experience with the deer. Really enjoy your blog.

Out on the prairie - Thanks for stopping by. Never been to Iowa but the bucks I've seen in magazines are awesome.

Rachel - I think the acorns had some to do with it. There was more than I've ever seen. The Craigs List ad was probably more for the resort area would be my guess. I'm not going anywhere. I've really enjoyed all of the great bloggers friends I've made to past couple of months. Depending on how cooperative the animals are I hope to do two posts a week.

Joe, I am rather a novice on understanding how one takes these photos -- but I am learning slowly. A man I know in Michigan set up a camera in an urban school yard and picked up quite a few deer visiting some drops off an old apple tree. I guess deer are squeezing into urban area when they can. -- barbara
