HOLY COW!!! I haven’t posted anything since March :(. Been pretty slow on the camera traps and very busy for me this spring. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things soon.
Can’t tell if this is a male or female but it’s been a regular visitor at this camera site this spring. I suspect there’s a den near this camera but I just haven’t had time to investigate it. Should be starting to see some fawns pretty soon.
Sharing my trailcam pics and experiences from the Massanutten Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Gray Fox
Got some day time shots of a beautiful Gray Fox the other week on two different days in the same spot as the Skunks. It’s unusual to get a Gray Fox on camera during the day time but like the Skunks it's their mating season so you can see them any time.

Gray Fox
Finally got a good shot of something on camera that wasn't a
bear. Don't know about everyone else but I'm getting a little tired of the bears.
This one looks like a really nice gray fox. It is unusual to get a daytime
picture of one as they are more of a nocturnal animal.
I have been using a scent dripper at the camera site higher
up the mountain but haven't had much success. I had a dripper that wouldn't
drip that I tried for two weeks. Last week I put my good dripper out and
got...more bear pics. I was hoping the scent I was using would attract a wider
variety of animals but no luck yet.

Signs of Spring and Courting Foxes
Two Robins made an appearance at the Mt. Pond last week so Spring most be right around the corner right. Actually we've pretty much had Spring temps all winter. The Gray Foxes have been very active at the pond lately and I finally got a couple of good shots. Most of the time they are just cruising by and just a blur in the picture. But I think one male has made the log by the pond his courting log. Around the 1st of March is peaking breeding season for the foxes in my area. I got pics of him on two different nights sitting on the log checking things out. The first set was right after a little snow we had and from the eye shine on the far side of the pond it looks like a girlfriend showed up. The next night I got a couple of him sitting on the log just surveying his domain. Wish these would have been in color instead of on the IR camera but it's always great to capture a fox on any camera.

Mountain Misc.
Been busy working in our Ruritan Club food booth at the county fair this week so I haven't had time to post or visit your blogs. Today is the last day of the fair. I'm heading out at noon and won't get done til after midnight tonight. Thankfully this is only once a year. My old body can't take this any more ;). LOL! Anyway here's a few misc. pics from the mountain set. Hopefully I will be able to drag myself out tomorrow to check the cameras.

Gray Fox
Sort of a rare series for me of a Gray Fox in the daytime. Most of the pics I get of the Gray Foxes is at night.

Tuff Battle and Gray Fox
Another tuff battle between the deer and raccoons. I like the way they keep eyeing each other. Then the deer and gray fox just seem to ignore each other.

Misc. Critters
I had high hopes on getting these posted earlier in the week but it's been another hectic week. Just an assortment of animals I've gotten on cam the last couple of weeks. Couple of different bears(I think we're getting over run with bears), a gray fox, a red fox with a very bad case of mange, and a couple unusual daytime raccoon pics. I'm planning on going to check the cameras this afternoon and see what new critters I've got.

Opossoms and More
I got a bunch more bear pics last week but I thought you might be getting bear fatigue so I decided to post a few of the other critters that have shown up on the cameras lately. Got a couple of rare shots of an opossum on both of the mountain sets. Though the opossums are plentiful in my area they don't get on camera much. Also got a couple of Gray Foxes and the big raccoon. I'm probably going to relocate two of my cameras next week. I need to get one back out on the farm to see what's going on out there and the other one I'm going to have to think about. I'm leaving the Covert at the mountain hotspot. Just getting too many different animals and great shots there to move it.
