Bear Rub

Before I get to the bear rub I had another little adventure last week. I moved a couple of my cameras after one of my buddy's and some of the neighbors spotted an unidentified creature roaming around. My buddy saw it right at dusk one evening in the cabin pond and at first thought it was a beaver but when it came out of the water it wasn't a beaver. While looking somewhat like a weasel everyone thought it was much too big the be a weasel. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it on camera and no one has seen it since. After researching it appears to be very similar to a Fisher. Only problem is Fisher range is far to the North of us. Hopefully someone will get it on camera if it reappears.
Anyway back to the bear rub. I've seen standing trees used by bear to rub and scratch on but this is a first one I've seen rubbing on a down tree. It'll be interesting to see if he comes back and uses it again. Also got a couple of more good fawn pics at the Mt. Pond.

That bear is certainly enjoying the log. A sweet fawn and I do hope you get the mystery animal on camera. Would love to see it.

Nice pictures, and I hope the fawn survives! Up here, we lose a lot to bears and coyotes! Good job! Jack

I'd love to see the mystery animal if you manage to capture it on film. That bear is having such a great time with the log. :)

Hi Joe; your header bear photo has me a little nervous; hope you did this shot with a long-range lens at least. Still looks to close. Hope you get to find out what the mystery water-creature is. Enjoyed your post ....and thanks for visiting my blog too.

We have some river otters around here, do you think your mystery creature might be an otter? The bear pics are great. I like the one where it's spread out on the log. Always like the fawns.

I always love seeing bears be bears! I've seen one rub on the ground by a log, but it rubbed where a mountain lion had marked so I figured that was the reason.

What a tiny little fawn!
