Doe and Fawns

After a week of miserable weather we finally had a beautiful day today. I took advantage of it and zeroed in a new scope I put on my muzzleloader and rechecked the zero on my rifle. After that chore it was off to check my cameras. It's hard for me to find anything much more relaxing than walking through the woods on a day like today. Unfortunately I'm still having a dry spell on the cameras. Didn't get much to get me excited again last week. Seems the big bucks have gotten camera shy. Probably going to move a couple of cameras next weekend and see if that will change my luck.

I did like this set of pics of a doe and her twin fawn. The spots are all gone and the fawn will be on their own in another month or so.

I wonder how it happens. One day they just wander off in another direction? Or does a buck come calling? Or do they get in one last argument with mom and storm out of the forest. hmmmmm Nice family photos anyway.

Thanks for stopping by to see the elk. Aren't the trail cameras just the best invention. Do you also have one of those video systems where you can check your cameras on your TV? My son is talking about getting one if he has to have foot surgery. I'd much rather check cameras on foot or by 4-wheeler. Being outdoors is the reward.
Love your entries.

That is the absolute finest thing a person could do is walk in the bush. I love it out there it clears your head and makes life a better place. I love it. Great shots as always. B

Great shots! I have decided that by the end of the year I am going to get a trail camera. I have a dry wash that runs by my house and I know all kinds of critters travel that wash. Mostly coyotes, but bobcats and once in a while mountain lions too. Hmmmm, this might be my Christmas present to myself.

I'm having the same problem with my trail camera. Bucks are gone and does are plentiful. Like your shots, mom is always on alert.

Yup, the babies are getting big. Let's hope they are allowed to get through the hunting season so they have a chance to grow some more.

I enjoyed the doe and fawns series. Do the fawns really leave their moms in a month or so? The lore around here is that our mule deer fawns stay with their moms until the following spring... I don't know for sure because it starts to be difficult to distinguish fawns and adults around now.

This is always a dry period for my cams... I don't know where our animals go in the late fall.

I apologize for not visiting my favorite blogs lately, and i promise to do some catching-up with everyone in the next few days. We are experiencing cooler weather starting today (Thursday) and as for myself I'm looking forward to falls return to the Lancaster Pennsylvania area. And are the color of the leaves changing your your way folks as they are mine. Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful fall season that has now begun. Richard from Amish Stories.

These are great quality for a trail cam. I like the one with all three looking off in different directions.
