New Camera

As I mentioned in an earlier post I was in the market for a new camera since the flood killed my Moultrie. I'd done a lot of research and had pretty much settled on a Scoutguard. Ian over at The Wild Life asked if I'd looked at the Covert cameras. He said he had used and liked them. Somehow in all my research I'd completely miss the Covert brand. After checking them out and finding a great deal on one I went with the Covert Reveal. All I can said is that I'm pleased especially for a $120 trail camera. The Reveal has a fantastic flash and gets great color night pics. THANKS for the tip Ian.

Below is the first set off the camera. The spots in the first pics are where the bear just has to stick it's nose against the camera before the first pics were taken.

Really nice pics of these guys and these shots show some great color as well.

Nice shots again.

So Joe, have you gotten a sense for how quick the trigger time is on that Covert? That's always been what's kept me away from them (slow trigger), but these pictures really look nice!

It will be a lucky camera-two bears for the beginning-not bad:)

Trailblazer - I haven't got a good feel for the trigger time yet but it seems much faster than the Moultrie it replaced.

Wow, these are some of the clearest trail cam shots I've seen. my husband went through 3 tail cams in one year, they just didn't hold up for us, so we gave up on them.

I like mine. Glad you are enjoying yours. Using the infrared at night, the batteries last a long, long time.

Fun bear pics, too.

I've been wondering which camera you went with. I've never heard of Covert either.

I'm loving those bear pixs too

Well that's a GREAT way to start off a camera!! Not many of us can say our 1st pictures were of bears:)

Hey Joe...

Excellent. Well, I like the look of pictures at night from the flash cameras. But (with the exception of Cuddeback) the commercial ones seem to have slow trigger times. Slow triggers are one of the most annoying things about camera traps! The Bushnells I'm stuck with are very annoying in that regard (they are slower than advertised).

I could go with more Cuddes, but they just don't have the features (multi-shot burst, video, etc.) that I really prefer.

I hope it turns out the trigger is quick on the Covert...I may have to invest in one someday!

I think that it's a good omen that your first sets were such great photos of a mother and yearling bear! They really aren't freaked out by the flash... They just stayed there for a bunch of nighttime photos. Very cool.
