Squirrel vs. Deer

It's always fun to watch the different animals interact with each other. Squirrels and deer are always in competition with each other for food but this is the first time I’ve seen a deer actually chase a squirrel.
I didn’t get out to check my cameras today. We had 16” of snow Thursday and I don’t feel like fighting it to check them today. I’m really for warm, sunny weather!

The stare down

And they're off.

The squirrel decides the ground might not be the best place for him.

Back to normal.

Well, maybe not.

Looks like the chase got everyone pumped up.

Nice pics. How's the covert cam? Is there a mode where the camera is able to take multiple shots with each trigger?

The last couple of photos look more like Kangaroo than deer. Seriously.

We see this often at the cabin. It really is amazing how well the animals get along and eventually share. I have a video somewhere showing deer, partridge, red, black and gray squirrels, a rabbit, and songbirds all dining together. We knew the bear was coming in when they all fled. Love their antics.

Sometimes I feel like chasing squirrels too. Like when they pig out at the bird feeder.

What cool behavior to capture!

I always figure that when there's so much snow that it's hard for me to get to my cams, the animals are probably bedded down anyway...
