Eight Pointer

I had almost given up on this location. I've had the camera there for three weeks and had only gotten a couple of small bucks on the camera. So I was really please with this nice eight pointer. I especially like the line across his face. I'm not sure if that is a scar or just a natural mark.

Awesome and such a beauty!
Hope he keeps coming around. And looks like some old injury on his face.

That's a nice animal. Something is going on there on his face. Never seen that before. I would leave the cam there and see if any members of his bachelor group show up.

He is sure healthy looking. Must be a story behind that scar. That's what I like about your blog. It's real.

I agree that he's a beautiful buck. I wonder if that's an old scar from fighting. Last year, I came upon a place with lots of blood, deer fur, and seemingly a million deer hoof prints in the snow. I eventually figured out that two bucks had been fighting there. It was an unbelievable fight, and someone got badly hurt. There were pools of blood and then a trail of blood leading away. The blood trail and tracks eventually petered out in an area with no snow so I couldn't follow it.

I wonder if your buck got into a fight like that one!

I bet that is a scar....if only he could talk. It is archery elk season here so I am beginning to see elk being brought back into town in backs of pick up trucks. I love this time of year.

Nice looking buck. It does look like a scar across the bridge of his nose; bullet, arrow, auto, or fight what ever did it if he makes it a few more years it will give you a mark to identify him by as his antlers change.
