First bear I've gotten on camera for a while. I went back and looked and it was early October '10 when I got the last one. This one looks like a pretty good one. Nice coat and not bad size. I'm guessing around 200 lbs though I'm terrible at guessing a bear's weight.
I knew I had a bear on the prowl when I stopped at the cabin on the way up the mountain and found a bag of trash scattered all over the yard. Someone had forgotten a bag and left it on the porch. The bears don't have much to eat this early in the spring and are looking for anything to fill their stomachs. Most of their Spring diet consists of leaves, flowers, plants, grasses, insects, small animals, and honey.

When it comes to bears and women, best not to try to guess their weight. ;)
Nancy - while I'll hazard a guess on the bears, the women I'll leave to their own...and I'm sure not gong to ask one if she's pregnant ;). LOL!!!!
Wow, exciting stuff! Lovely to catch a glimpse of a bear going about it's business at night! That I would not like to stumble upon in the dark!
Nice! Very handsome looking bear.
Wish we had them 'round here......
Great catch! He's a handsome one! (Had to laugh at the weight-guessing comments above...)
Incredible captures!
And I'm with Nancy regarding the weight guessing;))
Great comment by Nancy and so true. Great captures of this bear.
oh, I would rather not to meet him in the darkness:)
This fascinates me. A bear so close!
Good pics Joe./ Nice pretty rug, er, coat that is. I swear he/she is smiling in that last pic!
What a looker that one. I can't get over how lustrous it's coat is! Just beautiful!
Looks a good and healthy bear to me.....
Whoa! It must really be spring! I'm about to set up a cam on our most regular bear route... but last year, I didn't get a bear photo on that route until May! In 2009, it was March. Who knows?
I love your bear photos!
