Does

No big bucks or anything unusual on the cameras last week. Below is a group of does browsing through the small clearing in the mountain that I have my camera in. Some of the area old timers say that this area was once part of an old homestead and was a large garden years ago. There's a semi-circle of rocks that rings this area. These were picked off the garden to clear it for planting.

Pretty little ladies. I always enjoy seeing your deer photos - bucks or does or fawns, doesn't matter. I just don't get to see them here.

No bucks no matter, does are just as nice to look at. Great pictures.

texwisgirl - And I thought Texas as one of the deer Meccas? They just be to the south and west of you.

Rick - Thanks.

bigcatdetective - I've had the camera there a couple of weeks. Posted a couple of nice bucks from there earlier.

Tell me, do you see big shifts in where the deer hang out in the winter? Our deer seem to be in completely different places from usual... but are not very predictable.

Love the photos of the does! I'd love to get a photo of any living being besides a coyote on my cams right now!

Great shots of the does. We have so many around here.

Wow you see a lot out there....
If I had a camera set up in my forest of trees....I swear all I would see would be coyotes. Howling all day and night.

I couldn't really tell if any of them looked to be carrying fawns -- do you see many little ones in the area Joe? I scared one in our pasture one year -- or rather it scared me. :)

KB - Our winters aren't usually very severe so the winter and summer range are pretty much the same.

Farmchick - Thanks :).

Dawn - I haven't seen or heard any coyotes since early last fall.

Nancy - It'll be April before we can start to tell does that are carrying fawns. They won't give birth until mid May here.

Hi,

Just came across your comment on KB's blog. You're well north of where we spend a good deal of our time in the mountains.

We look forward to following you and enjoying your photos.
