Got my first fawn of the year on camera last week. We've
been seeing a lot of fawns this year. I saw a doe and fawn on the power line
last week. The fawn was still hobbling when it tried to walk. A friend of mine
was mowing hay last week and had to stop the tractor and haybine to move two
fawns out of the way. He said they were so young that they were still wet from
being born. By the time he came around the field again the mama doe had disappeared
with them. Sadly one or two fawns get run over each year with the haybines. The
fawns just will not move for anything when they're very young and you have to
be watching carefully in the tall hay to see them.

Oh, it never occurred to me that the instinct to drop and freeze would not do well against a haybine.
tiny one!
How sweet!
That's a little fella! Cool pics!
Sweet shots, Joe. We looked at our trailcam photos yesterday and saw lots of turkeys, deer, pheasant and coon. :)
So, so sweet. I just love this secret, silent world of yours.
We have yet to see our first up North! Nice pictures! Jack
Oh Joe these are incredible. We have unfortunately experienced the loss of a fawn in the hay fields even when we have walked the hay before it breaks our hearts, it is not an easy thing to forget. Luckily it has only happened once and we watch for weeks before we cut to see the signs that seems to work well. B
Ohh how lucky you are to get them on the camera. Great!
Still waiting for my first fawn.
Great pics Joe! Can't help but smile whenever I see a fawn.

So fun to see them. My husband just heard from his brother that the coyotes just killed a young fawn on their hunting property. Sad to hear, but part of a healthy ecosystem.
