Scavengers

I put one of my cameras in the area that I gutted my deer at to see what would be by to scavenge on the free meal. I got the usual suspects....buzzards, crows, raccoons, and a fox. The fox got there a little late after the more tasty morsels had been eaten. It amazes me how fast the buzzards finds any type of food like this. But when you're as homely as they are I guess you have to be first on the scene.

I have to say that I always love seeing a fox. Don't know why!

You got quite a variety of scavengers. I did something similar when I found a gut pile near here. I got ravens, magpies, and then a coyote. The coyote was afraid of the ravens (????). He waited until they had gone and then grabbed the biggest piece and took off with it. Very interesting.

Love the red fox photos. They're beautiful animals.

I love it that you "shared" your bounty with the woodland critters. Well done, Joe! Have missed you == glad to be back and glad that you are back (for now!) :)

So why do you suppose we say "you old geezer?" Have you observed anything about geezers that makes us compare them to the elderly? :))

That was a cool idea to do that. Nice pictures too. Them turkey buzzards seem to show up everywhere, we have a lot of them here as well.

In Maine, first on the scene is always the coyote . . . up here they ate all of the buzzards.

Cool! That's the first time I've seen buzzards on a trail cam!

Vultures sure are the homeliest birds-and they do seem to have some kind of weird second sense that gets them to the scene quickly- your game cam caught some great pics!

Wow! Really nice Joe. The sanitation crew made short work of the buffet. Surprised at the number of birds, pretty cool.

Wow they sure are an ugly bird. We call them Turkey vultures around here. Is that the same thing?
We see them all the time as soon as a calf is born it is like they fly hours and miles to get here. Amazing bird but still ugly. B
